Job Title: Business Development Manager

Salary: Ksh 180,000 – 250,000 GrossOur client a global education company providing transformational and innovative solutions for the entire education continuum and with corporate offices in US, UK, India, Middle East and Africa seeks to hire a Business Development Manager.
The BDM will be responsible for setting up an office in Kenya and strengthening current partnerships with local and regional educational institutions and governments.Purpose of the Job: The Business Development Manager is primarily responsible for the generation of new business and grows existing business in the assigned territory / sector with Government as well as large Universities and School Chains.
This involves creating and implementing sales and marketing plan to ensure the achievement of business revenue targets, driving technology products/solutions with the aim of achieving overall growth target set for the region
Key Responsibilities
- BDM will be required to interface, develop and manage relationships at Senior Government and non-government functionary levels.
- Responsible for account mapping, responding to client requirements, preparation and submission of tenders, Request for quotes etc.
- Develop relationships with key government ministries/departments and large universities and School chains.
- Responsible for generating new business relationships and negotiating new revenue for the company to agreed targets.
- Plan strategic initiatives and contribute to the national business strategy to establish market leadership for all company educational products and services in education vertical.
- Manage assigned accounts by building strong relationships with customers, gain a thorough understanding of their requirements and long term goals to expand & realize business opportunities.
- Would be personally responsible for targeting highly potential large accounts.
- Responsible for ensuring and maintaining an excellent level of technical knowledge regarding all areas.
- Represent the company at industry events and trades shows by clearly demonstrating knowledge and expertise.
- Experience of sales to Government and or to private schools (preferably education with relevant experience of at-least 5 years).
- Experience in software sales, solution sales or education products/services sales
- Large account management with ability to close large deal ( greater than $ 1 million)
- Hard core sales person with ability to do cold calling, meeting multiple customers preferred.
- Excellent relationship management skills at senior levels.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and computer skills (MS Office Products)
- Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation.
- Foreign or locally educated Kenyan national with excellent command of English.
- Regional & global exposure with experience of dealing with various government entities in the Africa region.
- Masters in Business Administration from a reputable institution.
- At least 28 – 35 years old.
- At least 5 – 10 years of sales or business development experience.
- Ability to converse in local language.
