VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT:
RESOURCE MOBILIZATION SPECALIST
The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is an Intergovernmental organization which provides services in surveying, mapping, remote sensing, GIS and ICT to its member States, partners and clients. It currently has twenty member States in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region.
Our Mission is to promote sustainable development through generation, application and dissemination of geo-information and allied ICT services and products in the member States and beyond.
RCMRD is the host of the SERVIR Program, which is a joint development initiative of NASA and USAID, working in partnership with leading regional organizations around the globe. The initiative connects space to village by making geospatial information, including Earth observation data from satellites, geographic information systems (GIS), and predictive models useful to developing countries.
As a short term consultancy under the SERVIR Program, RCMRD wishes to fill the following position:
Resource Mobilization Specialist
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development a resource mobilization strategy and plan for the 2015-2018 period. The plan will target USAID and other development partners for RCMRD to continue providing the services and strengthening the capacities developed and enhanced under the SERVIR Program.
- Manage the process of developing a strategic pipeline of USAID new business opportunities, including engaging relevant technical staff for inputs, convening discussions with senior management to prioritize potential opportunities, meeting with missions/programs, partners, etc.
- Support the implementation of the resource mobilization plan for priority donors and market segments, including coordinating the administrative, logistical and day-to-day activities of multiple new business efforts
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in marketing, new business, or proposal management for USAID or other donor programs and a bachelor’s degree in International Development, Marketing, or Business; or 3 years of relevant professional experience and a relevant master’s degree
- Solid understanding of the USAID international development industry
- Kenyan citizenship or other eligibility to work in Kenya
- Ability to articulate with strong presentation skills and to contribute to executive-level discourse
This consultancy has a proposed start date of 1 Nov 2014 and will continue through 30 June 2015. The anticipated level of effort is 100 days. Please see the full Terms of Reference (ToR) on the RCMRD website at http://rcmrd.org/.
