We are thinking Nairobi, but this job can be based in any of the three countries, with regular travel across the region. If successful, you will execute projects aimed at hard-to-reach populations and help us define entirely new market category in the process.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Plan and manage all project elements – from concept and idea generation through development, production and implementation
- Define, plan and oversee the implementation on the ground, within the supply chain, partner and retail networks, all the way to the customers shelf;
- Identify, analyse and resolve problems (of which there will be plenty);
- Identify and act on opportunities;
Desired Skills and Experience
- As most of what we do has never been done before. That means there’s nowhere to look for guidance. You need to be ok with that to be successful in this job.
- You also need to be a very strong project manager. You need to be good with launching stuff and developing businesses. You need to be comfortable with uncertainty, agile and a problem-solver. You need to be independent, solution-oriented and very comfortable with taking decisions. Tech-savvyness would also help. As would an understanding of telecom industry. You will be expected to turn small projects into springboards for future growth – across the region and beyond.
- It’d be great if you would have any experience with product development, project management and work with multi-disciplinary teams. You will be part of a loosely organized, very lean, global team so you need to be good at managing information and communicating online. You will work with partners from across the business and Aid world and you will need to do that without compromising the consumer experience. In fact you will be expected to continuously improve that experience.
- You will be expected to approach your work with creativity and pragmatism. You should have a passion for under-served, fringe markets and you need to have a thing for entrepreneurship.
- If you are all the above, chances are you will be a bit of a trouble-maker. Good.
- If successful you will join a small organization with big plans and a global footprint: you need to have the heart and the stamina for that.
