Context/Scope: EABL operates within a multi-cultural, multi-national, multi-currency environment. EABL comprises four business units: KBL, EAML, CGI and UBL. KBL is further categorized into Demand and Supply. The Supply business is involved in production of beer and spirits. The Demand business is involved in marketing and pushing the product to consumers.
Key to the company operations is the commitment to the development and implementation of world-class system and processes to enable the attainment of world-class best practices in all operations. This will ensure timely availability of over and above the 1,450, 000 Nine Liter cases required to meet the market demand.
The Shift Team Leader will work closely with unionized staff and contracted staff: – to issue instructions, guidance, discipline and counselling, with workers representative (shop steward) to review complains/grievances and discipline issues, with Human Resources manager about staff issues reviews, with the Head Of Planning to review production updates, quality, data analysis, stocks and daily targets/requirements and budget reviews, review progress, plan departmental objectives and strategic requirements for the business and support for personal development and with the Quality Manager about quality requirements and standards. Purpose of role: The Shift Team leader is required to manage efficiently and cost effectively the production of all spirit brands within the shift by effectively utilizing human resource, equipment’s, raw materials and time. The Shift Team Leader is expected to deliver the daily, weekly, monthly and annual spirit market demand by volume, quality at the right cost and in a safe manner. Market Complexity: The product must be available on time with no errors, to meet customers’ and consumers’ expectations at optimal cost. The quality products must be produced in a safe environment, at an optimal cost and on time by staff who are motivated. Top Accountabilities:
- Convert the inputs into quality finished products in a safe manner at an optimal cost and on time ensuring that employee morale is high.
- Manage the team by job planning, overview and periodic inspection, establishing and enhancing teamwork within the team and with other teams, identifying the training needs and coordinating provision of in-house training to staff to enable them acquire the desired skills, ensure staffs are well motivated for best performance and behavioral output.
- Oversee the relevant SAP functionalities – record of usage decisions as required in sap, running reporting functionalities, responsible for process order release, batch allocation and production confirmation, and ensure delivery to distribution and proper documentation for finished products.
- Achieving and sustaining the best occupational SHE (Safety, Health and Environmental) practices by coordinating and promoting good manufacturing practice. Ensuring compliance with safety requirements at the work environment.
- Coordinate production processes with Third party packaging plants to ensure plans are fully delivered.
- KRA stamp management – safekeeping, issuing and accountability. Continuous Improvement: Lead and Champion all CI programs identified that will lead to improved work place/processes.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology or Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, plant or Mechanical) or any related degree.
- Knowledge of manufacturing SAP application
- At least 4 (four) years’ experience in food or drinks manufacturing environment working in a packaging line.
