Our Client is in the Real Estate Industry currently recruiting a Group Financial Controller.
Summary
All aspects of Group financial management and setting up internal control
Accessing, negotiating and managing lines of credit from banks and financial institutions
Strategy formulation, implementation and monitoring and evaluation
New Project Viability and cost-benefit analysis
Ongoing Project monitoring with professional advice and value addition to complete projects in time and within budget
Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesPreparation of accounts
Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for operational management
Responsibility for all journals and final GL balances including review of month end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the Group’s accounting records and financial systems
Production of statutory accounts for the Group and its various subsidiary companies as and when required in accordance with the relevant accounting principles and the legislation of the countries in which they operate
Supervise and monitor the preparation of the financial statements of all the group companies
Coordination of external audit activities with group auditors
Play a full part in providing relevant & timely financial information to the Main Board to enable a balanced and objective assessment of the Group’s strategy and objectives
Budgets and forecasts
Preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans and continued monitoring & review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances to the Board and third party stakeholders
Financial management & controls
Effectively manage the working capital components of the Group with specific attention to stocks, suppliers, debtors and cash balances
Active management of overheads whilst seeking out areas for efficiencies for savings
Overseeing monthly processing of payroll and payments to all group employees
Review and update, in line with good practice, the Group’s internal control environment and produce a Controls and Procedures manual for review and adoption by management
To assist the Accountant in respect of periodic reports to the Group’s Audit Committee explaining the processes adopted and undertaken by management to keep under regular review the effectiveness of internal controls covering financial, operational & compliance controls
Play an active role in assisting management in the risk assessment process and embedding a risk management culture throughout the organization
Taxation
Support the Accountant in the development and execution of the Group’s taxation strategy
Ensure returns for Corporation tax, VAT, NSSF, NHIF , WHT and other relevant taxes are submitted, payments made on time and all relevant regulations are complied with
Develop structures and procedures in regards to accounting systems and procedures to ensure tax efficiency for the group companies
Information technology
Working closely with IT to ensure users have access to the key components of the accounting system, receive adequate training and have the essential reports readily available to facilitate decision making and problem solving
Staff
Effectively manage, motivate and develop the Finance department
Supervise & review performance of individuals in the Finance team
Implementation of a change management culture by challenging & replacing established processes and procedures where necessary
Give direction and leadership towards the achievement of each subsidiary’s strategy and its annual goals and objectives
Liaise with different departments to ensure the Finance dept. is properly supporting the needs of the operating businesses
General
Manage relationships with auditors, tax advisers, brokers, bankers and other parties as directed by the Chief Operating Officer
Keep key stakeholders up to date on progress against key milestones
Ensure the Chief Operating Officer and General Manager are kept informed of industry developments which are relevant to the operation of an efficient finance function
