Job Description
Regional Reporting
• Responsible for accurate and timely MIS reporting to the CFO Africa & Regional ARO team
• Contribute to balance sheet management analysis for Africa
• Ensure standardization of reports wherever possible (and best practice in report production/information provision)
• Report development and automation to meet new requirements.
• Ensure maintenance of a healthy business environment through strict compliance with ORP, AML/CDD and CRM standards as defined by the Group and Local Regulatory Authorities.
• Ensure operational losses are highlighted and submitted to the UORM (Unit Manager) in a timely manner.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Monthly MIS Reporting to CFO Africa Primarily responsible for accurate and timely MIS reporting to the CFO Africa by provision of the following monthly reports;
• Africa Regional Reports
• Functional commentary supporting the Regional Reports.
• Shared Support Costs and variances against Budgets / FYF (Finance, CEO, Other)
• Commentary supporting the Shared Support Costs (Finance, CEO, Other).
• Africa finance Operations cost analysis and commentary
• Support Head of CRES finance on Other banking segment analysis
• Ad-hoc issues as directed by CFO Africa / Head FSSC/Head ARO Reporting.
The Management Reporting Process
Primarily responsible for the Processes in place for Management Reporting Processes in the Region.
• Provide advisory to the reporting and country teams to ensure accurate and timely submission of Actual, Forecast and Budget.
Investor relations presentation (bi-annually)
• Data collection, validation, analysis and providing commentary on Africa business performance as provided by group guidelines.
• Consolidation of inputs from all business heads to develop a supplementary deck and supporting analysis
Strategy
• Support countries in providing strategy numbers as requested by group.
• Validate the data provided by countries before submitting to group.
Budget Challenge and Forecasting
• Spear head the Africa budget and forecast process, communicating effectively to involved stakeholders on the expectations.
• Validate the budget/forecast data before it is submitted.
• AFO/Finance/CEO cost budgeting and forecasting.
Balance sheet Management
• Support the Head of Balance sheet management Africa in providing data, analysis and commentary on Africa balance sheet on a monthly basis.
Competitor analysis
• Work with head of Balance sheet management Africa and Head of Retail Kenya to come up competitor analytics at the country level and the region.
Operational Risk
• Proactively communicate with the BORM on operational Risk Issues. Escalate significant events to BORM as appropriate.
• Coordinate and consolidate Operational Risk and loss reporting of the unit for the reporting to the BORM. Ensure data accuracy and completeness
• Undertake and/or coordinate periodic business monitoring (self assessment) activities within the business unit and escalate findings or breaches to BORM.
• Assist BORM in the implementation of OR framework or other relevant OR initiatives
• Identify gaps and arrange training on compliance and OR for staff
• Ensure that all processes and procedures within the unit are properly documented and continuously updated in DOIs and Process flows
• FSSC Department Continuity Coordinator
Qualifications & Skills
• A Formal business qualification-University degree in Finance/Economics and/or Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CA, CPA or equivalent and a minimum of three years post qualification experience preferably in a financial institution
• High level literacy in IT and proficiency in automated MIS systems
• Good experience in Financial, Management and Group reporting within Financial Institutions background
• Strong knowledge in Management Accounting Principles
• Strong analytical skill and an eye for detail
• High level of drive and resilience
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities. Ability to priorities various tasks given and ensuring deliverables( timely) are met by working rapidly but accurately
• Good interpersonal and communications skills. Able to work in a team environment and relate with senior Management
• Flexibility – priorities regularly shift at short notice
