Location: Mumias, Kenya Summary: Mumias Sugar Company is Kenya’s leading producer of sugar and diversified products which include Ethanol and Bottled Water. The Company also generates significant quantities of electricity which is exported to the National Grid.

As a result of this process, the Company is seeking highly motivated, results oriented, self-driven, experienced and qualified individuals who will drive the business of the Company to the next level.Job Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the job holder will be responsible for materials & supply chain operations including purchasing, inventory, planning & logistics with key objective of improving and optimizing the supply chain processes, systems and infrastructure.
He/she will work towards ensuring that the Company’s pricing and procurement strategies are aligned and transform the supply chain department into a full spectrum & strategically oriented function.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee the procurement process to ensure that these are in line with MSC strategy and process and ensure that KPI’s on price, quality and time are achieved.
Plan & execute daily operations of the department so as to achieve set objectives.
Review the usage and expenditure on large expenditure items with a view of identifying areas of cost reduction and/or service improvement
Ensure efficient and cost effective management of the inbound & outbound stores.
Effectively manage supplier pre-qualification and ensure that suppliers are held accountable for their deliverables through lead times and performance evaluation.
Co-ordinate and supervise the tendering process including participating in the evaluation of bids for goods and services.
Serve as a secretary to the tender committee.
Advice on payments due to suppliers under contract to ensure compliance
Prepare & submit periodic summary of procurements executed, ongoing and deferred with appropriate explanations.
Oversee the preparation of the Department’s annual operating and capital budgets ensuring that the budget conforms to the overall business strategy and remaining accountable for its implementation;
Manage staff costs and other operating expenditure on an on-going basis to significantly reduce the cost of doing business
Continuously develop and implement strategies that result in cost savings and at the same time conforms to customer, legal and regulatory requirements
Experience and Skills:
Degree in procurement / Supply Chain Management or any other business related degree
Diploma in Supply chain Management.
10 Years’ experience working in supply chain, 5 of which must be in a senior role.
Demonstrated supplier negotiations & contract management.
Must be a paid up member of Kenya Institute of Supply Management or (KISM) or Chartered Institute of Purchasing(CIP)
Additional Attributes:
Knowledge of raw materials, distribution of goods and manufacturing process
In-depth understanding of business & management principles , leadership strategies and strategic planning
Familiarity with the principles of transportation
Good forecasting & analytical skills.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-passed environment
Attention to detail
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of MSC
