Job Title: Country Program Manager – South Sudan

The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is a membership-based organization registered in Kenya with country offices in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and Rwanda.
Our members are key stakeholders and players in the grain value chain including cereal growers, millers and processors drawn from within and outside the East Africa States.
Our core mandate is to develop and promote orderly structured marketing systems and provide market information for grains so as to reduce transaction costs and eliminate barriers’ to regional trade



We seek to fill the advertised position with an individual who is analytical, has good organizational skills, development skills, and is capable of working independently or as part of a team.
The successful candidate should be highly professional, self motivated and a proven high achiever with good leadership skills.

Reporting to the Regional Manager – Structured Trading Systems, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
To develop the strategic plan and annual work plans for South Sudan EAGC Country offices consistent with the vision and mission of the Council.
To lead in implementation of EAGC projects in South Sudan so as to deliver project objectives agreed with the development partners.
To organize awareness creating / publicity forums to keep EAGC in touch with its members along the grain value chain and other stakeholder through Expos, field days, workshops.
To provide guidance and offer leadership in the development of a marketing strategy for EAGC’s services in South Sudan.
To develop, organize and participate in market linkages forums so as to link sellers and buyers for grain commodities.
To supervise the collection and dissemination of RATIN based market information to stakeholders.
To prepare activity reports on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis or as may be required from time to time or as agreed with the development partners.
To maintain up to date records of all project activities including but not limited to list of farmers; farmer groups; aggregation centers; certified warehouses; training done; stakeholders.
To manage member recruitment and retention strategy relationships and ensure member satisfaction through regular contact and prompt resolution of arising issues.
To take an active role in the development of fundraising programs in South Sudan and assist in the preparation of grant proposals and other income generating activities.
Support in the execution of the EAGC Agribusiness Expo; Grain Summit and other similar activities with regard to identification & engagement with partners, exhibitors, sponsors and stakeholders; recruitment & management of service providers; event budget management and preparation of reports.
Assist in recruiting, training, supervising, appraising & developing South Sudan country project staff.
To manage all project activities within allocated budgets and wherever necessary make suggestions on budget reallocation to the development partners.
Qualification, Skills and Experience:
Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agribusiness, social sciences, economics
5 years relevant work experience.
Ability to develop a close & strong relationship with a variety of stakeholders and partners.
Excellent organizational, coordination and time management skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
A problem solver; team player; independent thinker and self driven person who takes initiative.
Capacity to manage several tasks simultaneously, be flexible and be willing to assume a range of unanticipated assignments.
